Single tooth dental implants replace a single missing tooth in your mouth.
How are dental implants installed?
First, your dentist places the screw-like titanium implant into your jaw by making an incision in the gum tissue and a small hole in the jawbone. Following the placement, the gum tissue is sutured back together and left to heal over a period up to 3-6 months, to be certain the implant has fused with the jaw and is 100% secure.
Next, you will have to return to receive the replacement tooth that will be visible on top of your gums and implant. The crown will be attached directly to a metal post called an abutment, which is directly connected to the top of the screw implant. This step has its own healing period of a few weeks to months.
