Composite Bonding & Veneers – Natural-looking gorgeous teeth in a single day
At Primadent, our dentists can perform a mini smile makeover using this innovative and non-invasive treatment to deliver new confidence and pride in your smile.
Bonding reinforces a type of resin to your teeth, which is applied using clear tooth-shaped forms by your dentist and provides immediate visible improvements.
Cosmetic bonding is used to fill gaps between teeth and above the gums, also known as black triangles. Bonding also provides cosmetic improvements to worn, chipped, and undersized teeth.
What is the bonding process?
On the day of your appointment, our dentist will find the resin shade that most closely resembles the colour of your natural teeth. Always get your teeth whitened before this treatment as artificial materials will not respond to teeth whitening.
Next, our dentists will slightly roughen the surface of your teeth so the resin can attach better. This is a very superficial process, so you should not feel any discomfort. Then our dentist will coat the tooth’s surface with a conditioning material which aims for better adherence between the natural tooth and artificial material.
Finally, the putty-like resin material is modelled to the surface of your tooth and hardened with an ultraviolet light or laser. After the material has hardened completely, your dentist will shave off any excess material and ensure the new coating looks as natural as possible.
Is the bonding material as strong as my natural teeth?
No, the bonding material is only a type of plastic resin and is not as durable as natural teeth. Following your treatment, refrain from chewing on fingernails, pen caps and ice to avoid chipping the resin.
Why choose composite bonding over another dental cosmetic treatment?
First of all, you only need one appointment to leave our practice with a new smile thanks to cosmetic bonding. Other, more invasive cosmetic treatments like veneers require multiple visits to ensure a perfect fit and appearance.
Bonding does not cause any irritation to the teeth or gums, so even those with dental anxieties can easily receive the treatment. Bonding also maintains the overall structure of the teeth.
